Other Outdoor Activities Water Sports - with many volcanic crater lakes around us, we are ideally located for water sports enthusiasts. If you enjoy sailing, windsurfing or canoeing, we suggest you visit Lac de Lastioulles, where in season, catamarans, windsurfers, pedalos, kayaks, canoes, and surf bikes can be hired and tuition is available. There is also a beach and swimming area with a lifeguard in attendance.
Where the River Dordogne is dammed at Bort-Les Orgues (10 minutes away from the house) at the base of the Chateau Val is a water sports centre, with a sandy beach and summer lifeguard. The lake is separated into different areas for powered craft, sailing boats, fishing and swimming. For those seeking the peace and tranquility of fishing or row boating, Lac Pavin cannot be beaten but when the snow melts in Spring, the locals head for the fast flowing trout streams nearby.
Our nearest river, the Tialle, is a five minute walk from the house. |
